Glenn Eldon Hoff
Excerpt below from Obituary articles in BC and Saskatchewan
November 20, 1947 – March 21, 2023
Glenn Eldon Hoff passed away peacefully on March 21, 2023 after a battle with respiratory disease at Kelowna Hospice House. He is survived by his loving wife Sybil, family and friends.
He was best known for his love of automobiles and classic cars and was a member of many car clubs in Western Canada. He also ran his own Auto body shop in Saskatoon.
Remarks made by Glenn’s many friends from near and far as follows…
I immediately felt kinship with Glenn. I loved his no nonsense attitude. He and I often talked about the car shows over the years. His ideas of how to make it better, and the contribution to our community he made. I will miss our kibitzing, his smile and laugh.
I will miss Glenn at the Peachland World of Wheels , as he was a past director and friend. He knew a lot about cars and car shows. He would say to me “well you may not want to hear it” but I’m going to tell ya”. Then after his no BS comment would come “just saying” with that shrug and smile. I am happy that I met him, and will miss him.
I first met Glenn at Sherwood Chev when buying a new car, and I definitely lucked out when I got Glenn for Salesman. Over the years I would buy more cars from Glenn because he was honest and trustworthy, and the same when I required auto body work at his shop. He truly was one of the ‘good guys’.
I have so many great memories going back to our high school days in Saskatoon. Glenn was a member in our car club here that we started in those years: the Kingsmen. In later years it was always reassuring to know that after a fender bender, we could count on him and his shop for good, friendly service too.
Interment and Celebration of Life will take place at a later date in Saskatchewan.
Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.everdenrust.com.
Adeline Riehl

October 3, 1937 – January 14, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Adeline Riehl (Schwartz) of Penticton, BC at the age of 84 years.
Mom obtained her registered nurse diploma in Dauphin, MB in 1958. She worked most of her nursing at the Dauphin General Hospital in several different roles as a Public Health Nurse, General Duty Nurse, Director of Inservice Education, Director of Nursing, and Assistant Executive Director until her retirement in 1992 when the family retired to Okanagan Falls, BC to be closer to mom’s parents and siblings. She continued to work in the health care field until she was 65.
Mom touched many lives in her 84 years. A former co-worker described mom very well.
“Your mom was my teacher in Nursing school, and one of the nurses I admired and strived to emulate throughout my career. She was one of the first women I knew who worked full time and raised a family. I asked her once if she thought her kids (you guys) lost out because she worked. She said, “ I make sure they don’t.” She had an amazing career that spanned the breadth of nursing. She was a wife, a mother, nurse mentor, an inspiration, and an administrator. Kind, and gentle nurse. You were blessed to have her.”
She is survived by her three daughters and her cherished companion Victor Protasenko, Adeline was an active member of the Apple Valley Cruisers in Summerland, BC. Victor & Adeline attended many cruises, cruise-ins and car shows in and around the Okanagan.
Adeline will be sorrowfully missed by her family, extended family, her grandchildren, relatives, friends, neighbors, the car club community in Summerland and anyone she knew. Rest in Peace Adeline.

Dec 3, 1947 – Nov 8, 2020
It is with profound heartbreak that we announce the passing of Dan. He died quietly in his sleep from a heart attack. He leaves behind his partner Vicki and truckloads of friends especially Al Beydak (Janet). Born and raised in Maple Ridge, then moved to Kamloops, Chase and Penticton. He took early retirement from a manager’s position at the Kamloops Liquor Board and then he & Vicki travelled extensively. His passion was cars and he belonged to 2 car clubs. His latest proud possession was a 1929 Ford Tudor that he loved showing especially taking the shows on the road. He was so loved and will be so missed. Hope you find a great set of wheels in the afterlife, Dan. No service at this time due to COVID.
Friends and acquaintances remember Dan as follows:
In his past vocation, he was always such a gentleman; Vicki was the love of his life!
My personal remembrance is regularly seeing Vicki and Dan at our AVC meetings and/or the DQ when we could attend and car shows where Dan was a great supporter of the Club. Also Dan and Vicki enjoying the cars and people at the DQ Thursday cruise-ins, his wit and never ending smile on his face. His presence will be sorely missed by those who knew Dan. Our thoughts are with his loved ones and friends.
Patricia Seidel
September 2, 1939 – October 28, 2020
(Excerpt below copied from Patricia Seidel’s Obituary)
Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Patricia, on October 28, 2020 at the age of 81.
She was a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She is also remembered fondly by many friends. She appreciated all your thoughts and cards (during her illness). Her love and acceptance of us all will be dearly missed but we will remember her for her talented painting, extraordinary piano playing and for her sense of humor even when her health failed her.
She enjoyed flipping through many a home decorating magazine, which gave her ideas for her Arts and Crafts and for decorating her home and yard.
We marveled at her home-made wrapping paper and whipped shortbread at Christmas. She never failed to make sure we all felt special and were appreciated for our own unique ways.
Pat and Karl spent many happy times travelling to Mexico and Arizona, always meeting up with old friends and making new ones over the years.
She held a special place in our family and leaves behind her husband Karl, children, her dear grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, BJ, in Ontario.
She was a wonderful person and we will miss her!
Garnet Frank Nixdorf
September 26, 1933 ~ February 10, 2020 (age 86)
Garnie Nixdorf, founder of Nixdorf Classic Cars in Summerland, says that in his shop they turn rust to riches.
Though “Rust to Riches” may be a fitting motto for the museum, there is no wealth other than the 86 restored cars, and the satisfaction Nixdorf and his staff and volunteers get from pursuing their passion to restore classic cars.
But there is more to the story than just the restoration of old cars. Nixdorf had a dream when he started his business 11 years ago. Though his passion was cars, his mission was to help children who have disabilities.
So he decided to dedicate the profits from his company to organizations that helped children with disabilities. Agur Lake Camp, with an office in Summerland and a totally accessible camp at Agur Lake, caught his attention, and he decided to channel his profits in that direction.
Garnie will be missed for his great sense of humour. Everyone had a nickname. He was known for his love of cars, his drive to succeed, animals and especially his dogs, who were all named Fartsy.
Gray, Irene Eleanor (née Pennington)
M.P.A.C. (Master Pastel Artist of Canada)
August 12, 1941 – January 10, 2020

First and foremost a loving partner and self-sacrificing mother, Irene was also a woman who lived life on her own terms. She was a devoted friend to many. A passionate artist, an athlete, a nature lover, a photographer – she was someone who taught ‘Us’ how to live.
Irene is remembered by friends as ‘a classy lady, a true friend who would stand by you through thick and thin; quiet, independent, a kind person with a mind of her own earning the respect of people who met her’. And is ‘thanked for the memories…the smiles…the giggles…the good times we shared….and for teaching us how to enjoy each and every moment’.

Joe (Jose) Sardinha
Following is a condensed version of Jose’s Obituary, August 31, 2013.
Joe (Jose) Sardinha passed away August 31, 2013 at the age of 52. Joe was born in Silvares, Portugal May 14, 1971 and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1965. He began working in the orchard at an early age and decided during his first year of university that farming rather than science was his calling. He married Julie in 1981 and together they started farming, leasing orchards for 3 years before entering into partnership with his parents in 1984. Joe’s greatest passion was simply farming – he was happiest with a picking bag slung over this shoulders while harvesting his crop. Joe is remembered as a great leader for the BC fruit industry. The Summerland orchardist was a former president of the BC Fruit Growers Association. We sincerely thank Julie for contributing yearly to the Apple Valley Cruisers for the Endless Summer Event Apple Sale. Your support and the ultimate contribution to the Summerland Art Gallery is greatly appreciated.
